Montrose
Sitting over a mile high in elevation, Montrose County is the gateway to fun on the Western Slope. The city of Montrose has a wide variety of shopping, restaurants, medical facilities, exciting parks, and a new community recreation center, plus the fastest growing airport in the state with direct flights all over the US! Talk about a convenient town! Montrose has a mild climate, making it a retirement destination. Love to golf? Montrose boasts three courses in town—Black Canyon Golf Course, Cobble Creek Golf Community, and The Bridges Golf & Country Club. (Not to mention many more that reside just a short drive away, such as Cornerstone Golf Club, Divide Ranch Golf Club, and Devil’s Thumb Golf.) Any direction you head out of Montrose brings different terrain and endless adventures. To the south, you have the most beautiful mountain views in all of Colorado—the San Juans—bringing endless exploring, jeeping, hiking, hot spring swimming, and skiing at the famous Telluride Ski Resort, only 75 minutes away. To the east is the stunning Black Canyon National Park; explore the Black Canyon’s deep cliff walls by driving the rim or hiking the numerous trails. West of Montrose is the Uncompahgre Plateau, offering hundreds of miles of 4-wheeling trails and canyons to explore. To the north of Montrose is Olathe, a small farming community with loads of charm.
